Designer, Musician and Comic Nerd.
Growing up, all I could remember was either drawing at home, in school or doodling on notepads at my grandmothers kitchen table after Sunday dinners - I enjoyed the creative process and loved art and design. When I wasn’t immersed in art I’d dive into my other passion playing piano and guitar. Having both outlets seemed to strike the perfect balance for me creatively and besides, I had enough on my plate; the chances of becoming a pitcher for the New York Yankees were slim. Ultimately what became abundantly clear over the years as an artist was the willingness to consistently challenge myself to grow creatively and strive to do better. That philosophy has continued to this day and translated in how I am driven to challenge our team and serve our clients for the past 13 years.
Early Years
As a lifelong Brooklynite, I made my way into Manhattan and attended the School of Art & Design and New York City Tech. Fresh out of school with a degree in Art & Advertising Design, I hit the ground running and cut my teeth working at a Photo Studio & Catalog House in Chelsea. From working on catalog design, handling merchandise to assisting on photoshoots and prop shopping, the experience was a well rounded, rich introduction into the business where I was able to intimately learn the inner workings of a design studio.
Upon returning to Brooklyn in the early 90’s, I did two stints at a Local Pennysaver & Publishing Company and was thrust into honing my design chops. There, I learned to work under pressure with multiple deadlines per week, but I wasn’t long for the daily grind of newspapers and set out for what would be my final run at Color Graphic Press in NYC.
Returning to the city and working in a photo studio felt like home for me, but in the end a strong inner voice to “go for it” coupled with the inspiration of my father who owned and managed a successful business for over 30 years is ultimately what led to creating my own start-up. Years of hard work and dedication plus time spent cultivating client relationships and observing what made the companies I was with tick had served as the perfect primer.
Over time, freelance projects, client referrals and a collaboration of video projects with a friend and colleague helped pave the way and led to the origins of Montalti Studios Photo & Video which eventually evolved to become Creative Solutions.
